Do I need council approval?
Generally not for a like-for-like renovation inside an existing house without structural changes. Units need strata approval for waterproofing work.
Is asbestos a concern?
In pre-1990 homes it is possible. It is tested before pricing and removed by a licensed removalist.
Can I keep the bath?
Yes. Many families keep or upgrade to a freestanding bath; others remove it for a bigger shower.
